Doctor Rock Was indeed an ONYA award nominee

But due to their corporate tactics has unfortunately discovered it was only ever a waste of time.

Correspondence with IMMEDIA's "PR" department as follows.

> >Hello, > >I just noted on your ONYA awards site that the top ranking websites have been announced, and they are much as expected to be , but what I'm wondering is if you are going to show the tally for all sites nominated, as I'm sure that would be the information most relevant and of greatest interest to those who took the trouble to apply for nomination.

And the Reply..

We won't do that since that's proprietary and might discourage those who find they had one vote, 100 or less than a thousand. Besides,. we don't want to embarrass anyone. Cheers

And of course I could not avoid replying to such a load of twaddle.

Crikey, anyone with an ego so huge as to be embarrassed because they didn't get as many votes as like the major sites would have to have been pretty silly to have entered in the first place, or have some chronic problems I don't want to even think about. I can't follow your reasoning at all, but will clearly have to accept it. I can only assume that if this information is proprietary, this was never a competition of any description at all but a corporate promotional and market information gathering exercise. I'll keep that in mind in future and clarify the situation for others who may also be of the enquiring mind. Well done, good trick, well executed, hope it increased your gross profits. Cheers.

And their condescending reply much as expected.

If you believe all this crap, good for you. It doesn't bother us in the least.
Please claify as much as you want for enquiring minds. Sound like a life job.

(SO I would have to reason that gives me written permission directly from IMMEDIA to write this article.)

And the moral of the story..

Buggered if I know, Just don't waste your time participating in the machinationsof shonky operators pretending to be "encouragements to the industry" unless you know what you are going to get as reciprocity, otherwise there would seem to be no point other than providing marketing information which IMMEDIA will probably be selling to the industry at only slightly less than extortionate prices. It's a mystery, but at least Doctor Rock got some airtime out of it.

Onya' ONYA. Good one.
